Last Games in Eger

Today we had our last scrimmage in Eger. We played a very mellow northern California team called SOLO; they are primarily from a public school in the Menlo-Atherton area. Play was friendly. Their coach and assistant coach were the ones to administer first aid to Parker after his nose was broken. It was relaxing to watch some very clean water polo today. The boys were given the day off, either to wander around the town, watch the Olympics, play cards or just hang out. All in all, a completely uneventful day.

Our last dinner was arranged by Tom Ploch; it included a tomato, sweet yellow pepper, cucumber salad with a dill yoghurt dressing on the side. Then there was a delicious meatloaf on top of a huge serving of mashed potatoes. The food has been extremely tasty here; just not enough of it and no hint of greens. So the boys went out for more food after dinner, usually pizza because it's cheap and tasty. Pizza wouldn't be my first choice but healthy choices are expensive. They do get a great breakfast with eggs, sausage, toast, yoghurt, muesili and an assortment of cut meats and cheeses.

Travel, diet, close contact, unfamiliar surroundings has led to the beginning of illness and congestion. Brandon was the first to come down with congestion. Chris followed but took antiobiotics. Jeff has taken a few antibotics. Parker feels like he can't breathe (which is understandable since his nostrils are blocked with cotton). I think they have a common cold and should be downing us much vitamin C as possible. Ian's solution for vitamin C consumption is eating as many tomatoes as he can and drinking as much orange juice as he can. I'll make that suggestion to the boys this morning.
